The different types of tests will help a teacher measure the student's ability, perhaps providing feedback on their current teaching styles, or about how the student might learn best. There are also different kinds of external assessments that an individual may take to assess their English ability. A student may be preparing for an external assessment, so it may be helpful to be knowledgeable of the contents and purpose of the particular assessment.The two productive language skills are writing and speaking. Speaking skills often focus more on fluency, while writing skills give students more time to achieve accuracy. Pairing students with partners or in small groups can diminish fears associated with productive skills. Productive language lessons should include a mix of controlled activities and fluency-based free-form activities. Teachers should pay close attention to common errors during classroom discussions, but they should not correct students while they are speaking.
