The most useful aspect of Unit 12, Teaching Productive Skills, was the number of games included. I really appreciate this list because I often struggle to engage my students in, what seems to me, a fun lesson. Even though the topic that I choose might be fun, I still need to bring students in first, so that they will be more inclined to participate. I am also really glad to have learned about the difference between (1) accuracy and (2) fluency, because correcting students too often can be discouraging, especially when they are being creative in the present moment.This was the worst lesson yet. The material was weighty. I could go so far as to say it was overkill on a subject that is not going to be covered in this much detail. This unit is worthy of being included in the course work but not a unit that should be tested. I would treat this unit more as a resource. An advanced student of English could have an appreciation for the stress chart as a resource. I personally liked having a name for the sound joint incidents. And, the absolute worst was the phonemic alphabet not the chart but trying to read and translate.
