Methods can vary. They all have pros and cons. It all depends on the individual circumstances. The key word is flexibility. The teacher needs to adapt to the individual characteristics and needs of the students. The important thing to keep in mind is that the students need to be given stimulating input, they need to be encouraged, they must be given the necessary language and structures and most of all be given the possibility to apply all that has been learnt.Unit 19 was helpful in the area of types of classes. Ranging from beginners to business, I now have a better picture of what each class needs. I found it really helpful that it is important to not use the native language in beginner classes to make sure they won't receive any assistance and need to be thinking in english. As well, the business classes were interesting how you can help 20-50 year olds help make an impact in their business by learning english.
