This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This Unit presented 5 Future \"tenses.\" The first four tenses -- Future Simple, Future Continuous, Future Perfect and Future Perfect Continuous -- all fell into the same presentation format as the Present Tenses and Past Tenses. The \"Going to\" Future \"tense\" was a different twist, however. It doesn't use the word \"will\" even though the first four future tenses do. I did not have trouble confusing it with the Future Continuous, however, because of the explanation that the Going To tense must be followed by an infinitive.
I believe that when I begin to teach the three major tenses (Present, Past and Future) I will explain in advance to students that there is a repetitive organization to the tenses, and show them the outline for the format. I have also created a study tool, \"A Chart of Usages,\"which can be used as a teaching tool. For each of the three tense chapters I did a cut-and-paste table that shows (for each tense), only the usages. It helps to eliminate the clutter of full text.
