The first unit discussed the qualities, roles and responsibilities of both teacher and learner. It also compared the types of learners based on different criteria—age, behavior, culture, motivation and language level among others.
The lesson introduced me to the profoundness of being a good teacher. It helped me consider various classroom scenarios wherein the teacher must play the appropriate role to effectively execute an activity. I realized that a good teacher knows which role to take on in any given situation to efficiently impart knowledge while prioritizing the learner's well-being.
With what I have learned so far, I am bracing myself against all the challenges that I will have to take to become the ideal teacher. I understand that I need to be sensitive about the learners' needs and teach in a way that not only makes them good in the English language but motivates them to become better learners.
I am looking forward to learning more and I will strive to become a fair and effective teacher.
