This chapter was really helpful because I haven't studied phonetics in any of my schooling. I plan to make sure I keep a printed copy of this chapter on hand to keep as a reference. I would never of thought to use diagrams while teaching someone the correct pronunciation so I found that a helpful tip. The different ways people use speech to enunciation their purpose was also helpful but I think I may have found it a bit different as I was born in Scotland and have a slight UK version of speech compared to a straight American English.This unit showed that a teacher can have all of his resources and plan ready, but it's ineffective if the connections with students is not there. If we are not enthusiastic about the content we're teaching, why should they be? Students will be more willing to take a chance and practice new skills with someone who shows they care about the student's learning. In the first video the teacher was obviously not interested in whether or not students were learning, but just a few changes made it apparent that he was in the second video.
