Unit 18 was a grammatical overview of modals, phrasal verbs, and passive voice. This was a great detailed and grammatical lesson that served to build on the grammatical foundations set earlier in the course. It was helpful to not only to learn about modal auxiliary verbs, but also the passive voice as well. These are such a big part of reading and writing in English, and are difficult topics to teach, thus making the lesson that much more helpful.In this unit covering evaluation and testing, I found it informative to; give ongoing feedback as this provides the students with the information they need to evaluate their own level and progress. However, dependent on the institution that one is working in, more formal means of assessing a student?s language levels would be required. Various testing methods are used and I personally find the placement test useful in evaluating language level.
