I learned that there are four basic skills in any language but in this lesson we focused on the receptive skills which is reading and listening. We read to entertain ourselves be it in the form of listening to music or reading a work of our favorite authors. Sometimes wise from entertaining we also read or listen for a certain purpose. Whether we read to be entertained or for a purpose there are 5 sub skills these are detailed reading, prediction, scanning, skimming, and deduction. I also learned the different potential problems we can encounter when approaching different languages.This unit reviews classroom management. The utility and effect on teacher-student relationships caused by eye contact, gesture, and voice are explained. This unit also looks at the pros and cons of grouping students in the classroom for different activities. Classroom arrangement is also taken into account and will vary depending on the class size and furniture. This unit also stresses the importance of consistency and simplicity when giving instructions. Lastly, this unit covers how to maintain discipline within the classroom and how to handle behavioral problems should they arise.
