Many teaching methods have been created through the history of teaching, parts of which then influenced the development and creation of the ESA method, which appears to be the most effective and logical of all methods used nowadays. According to this method all lessons should begin with the 'Engage' stage and finish with the 'Activate' stage. The 'Study' stage should be slotted between the two stages. In creating effective lesson plans we should make sure to make teaching unpredictable for students, therefore it is the best practice to switch between three lesson models: the 'Straight arrow', 'Boomerang' and 'Patchwork' in order to keep lessons interesting for students. Correcting should be kept at an optimal level and it is best to allow individual students the chance to correct self first, if he or she is unable then engage other students in correcting them. We should also give plenty of constructive positive feedback to students in order to make them confident speakers and users of the English language.
