This unit was very helpful by providing information on classroom management. I'm always surprised by how much goes into classroom management, even though I have covered it in other courses. Teachers must be able to think of fulfilling lessons which engage students by working in pairs, groups, or as a class. A teacher must be able to control the class at all times, but also give students room to feel comfortable and learn with their peers. The class room must be set up in a way that allows for the best possible learning, and this may change depending on class size, the age of the students, and the types of desks/tables in the classroom. This unit is also helpful in teaching how to gain students' attention and how to communicate with students on a variety of situations ranging from one on one instruction to full group instruction. This unit also gives helpful hints on how to increase student-talk time while still providing useful instruction. I also found the tips for handling behavioral issues very helpful.
