This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This Unit covered the topics of modals, passive and active voice, relative clauses and phrasal verbs. These components of the English language are used every day by native English speakers but are difficult to understand for a non-native English speaker because they not as simple to explain. It is important to have a basis of understanding of the verb tenses in English if students are going to be able to incorporate and understand passive and active voice. Also, learning the modals in English are helpful for a student to have greater clarity in conversations and to know when something is required and when it is suggested. As students learn how to form sentences it is important to teach them relative clauses. Students will progress in their writing and reading skills if they are able to understand and apply the use of relative clauses in sentences. I agree with the course that phrasal verbs should be taught as vocabulary phrases because they are very difficult to understand if taught as a grammar structure.
