Unit Five discusses the planning and evaluation of lessons including the planning of individual sessions and a series of lessons. A recommended format has been provided to use as a guide when planning lessons. A series of lesson plans with various examples of the use of 'phases' provides an outline to develop lesson plans. The advantages of planning to assist teachers to provide effective lessons as well as ideas on self evaluation are also included in the unit.
The lesson planning and evaluation processes covered in Unit Five is a refresher of previous studies I have undertaken and allows me to compare how I am currently planning with the unit material. There are a few differences. Particularly the format and the inclusion of 'phases'. I will add the 'phases' element to future planning and evaluate the planning in future lessons. The 'self evaluation' examples used in the unit are similar to what I use but the terminology I use differs slightly. For example I use the headings 'do well' and 'do differently'.
