Lesson planning is an integral part of teaching. While some theorists suggest that lesson planning isn't a good idea as it may lead to a rigid, teacher centred lesson, having a lesson plan is extremely useful for inexperienced teachers. For teachers that are in between these two extremes, they might employ notes or even completed lesson forms that leave room for flexibility. Having a lesson plan is also beneficial in that it can be an aid to planning, help the teacher with time management, be a record of what the class has covered and act as a working document that gives the teacher something to refer to during the class.
The following things should be included in a lesson plan: learner objectives, personal aims, the language point that you will focus on, teaching aids and materials requires, any anticipated problems, procedures, phases (E/S/A), timing, differing levels of interaction (T-S or S-S) for each part of the lesson, class level, number of students, date and time, and the teacher's name if necessary.
