There are 4 past tense forms.
1. Simple part tense: This tense used for completed actions in the past. The form for regular verbs: Verb+ (ed).
Negative form: did not or didn`t +Verb Question form : Did+Subject+verb?
2. Past Perfect Tense: It is used when the action occurred before another action in the past. Affirmative form :subject+had+past participle
Negative form: Subject+had+not+past participle Question form: Had+subject+part participle
3.Past continuous: It is used when the action began before that time and continued after. Its is used in descriptions and for interrupted past actions.
Affirmative form: Subject+was/were + Verb+ing Negative form: Subject+was/were+not+verb+ing Question form: was/were+subject+verb+ing
4.Past Perfect continuous: It is used to talk about actions in the past that had been going on continuously up to the past moment that we are thinking about.
Affirmative form: Subject+had+been+verb+ing
Negative form: Subject+had+not+been+verb+ing
Question form: Had+subject+been+verb+ing
