Tutorials, individual evaluations by students, and tests are three ways for teachers to assess students' progress in the language and give that feedback to the students. Tutorials can be done one on one but are usually conducted as review sessions for the whole class at the end of the lesson. Evaluations can be simple surveys that students submit that indicate to you and them what they feel they have learned from the lessons and where it can be improved. Tests are one of the more common ways to evaluate language learning. After taking a placement test that determines what language level the student is at, teachers can use diagnostic, practice, and progress tests to encourage students to review older material, give them benchmarks on their progress, and see where it is that you as a teacher needs to focus on more. These tests can be used as warm-ups for external examinations students may need to take to enter universities and colleges in English-speaking countries or join English speaking companies in the future.
