This unit revisited the ESA - Engage, Study, Activate - structure and explained it further by providing examples of how it can be used to create a lesson plan for teaching vocabulary, grammatical structures and language functions. This unit also talked about what is important to teach about these specific topics. If you teach grammatical structures, for example, it is important to explain the meaning, how it is used, patterns it falls in and both its spoken and written forms. The history of the grammatical structure is not relevant to the teaching and would only confuse the EFL students. I enjoyed the section about selecting vocabulary because it gives some basic tips on what to choose in particular. It is good to choose words that are frequently used and appropriate for the lessons and students. Once the list of vocabulary has been determined, it is important to focus on these words primarily in the lesson so the students can not only have them in their receptive vocabulary but also in their productive vocabulary.
