The following is an overview and what I have learnt from this unit.
The importance of reading and listening and also why we read and listen.
• Reading and listening for a purpose for example reading a content to achieve a certain goal.
• We also read and listen for entertainment purpose for example listening to my favorite music for pleasure.
I got a great idea of the different skills that comes with reading and listening.
Some of these skills are;
• Getting a general idea of context rather than being specific. this is the general idea skill.
• Getting detailed information from the context.
• Predicting the content of a particular introduction.
There are also some problems that come with reading and listening. Below are some of the problems and possible solutions,
• The language problem can be dealt with by pre-teaching the vocabulary in the content so that the students are familiar with them.
• Lack of interest can be dealt with by motivating and engaging the students in the task.
