This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit reports on the conditional in English. We read about several different forms the conditional can take, zero, first, second and third. We can also use a mixed conditional. Each section represents a different level of doubt(conditions) in a given sentence. The zero conditional expresses something that is irrefutable, i.e. if a certain action is performed the result will be x y or z.
After looking at the different forms the conditional can take we look at the mistakes students commonly make when using the conditional, and we study some examples of ways to teach the conditional. We then go on to study direct and indirect speech, that is reporting on what someone else did or said. We learn how a sentence changes grammatically when it is indirect speech. We then look at some teaching ideas for reported speech.
From this unit I have learnt more about the details of the conditional in English, and how it functions. I have also assimilated how indirect speech functions, and what aspects of a sentence are modified.
