This unit dealt with managing a classroom as well as the students being taught. There were clear, concise discussions around methods of presenting to a class, structuring the physical classroom environment, and the types of teacher behavior that are and are not conducive to learning. It was helpful to have pointed out the types of teacher behavior and actions that can both promote and impede learning. There is a fine line between giving students the answer and letting them work it out for themselves. There are a few ways a teacher can structure the lesson: pair work, group work, and individual work. All of these methods have their pros and cons and should be used as appropriate to the lesson being presented as well as being appropriate to the level of the students. Discipline should be executed in accordance with the schools or programs disciplinary rues and regulations and should be done consistently in order to build the kind of trust and teacher-student relationship that is important for a classroom setting.
