This unit was very helpful in forming a solid foundation of knowledge on classroom dynamics, and student-teacher relationships and roles. In my opinion, the two most helpful sections of this unit were the descriptions of teacher roles in a classroom, and the influences on students learning in the classroom. Teachers must always consider the variety of roles they must juggle in the classroom to ensure all students feel comfortable and are getting the best learning experience possible. Between assessing, facilitating, participating, and managing, teachers can provide feedback, have fun with students, maintain order and safety, and allow for a great degree of freedom for their learners. Also to be considered is the background of students-- age, culture, behavior problems, and language awareness (along with several other factors), can all influence a students motivation in the classroom. Teachers must learn to interpret and work around these dynamics to make the best learning experience possible for any and all students.
