Songs, chants and music, playing games, using stories, arts and crafts, and drama are all teaching techniques that can be incorporated into lesson plans for our student’s learning. Songs, chants and music are very effective memorization techniques for young learners and can provide ample opportunity for improving listening, reading and writing skills. Introducing games in the classroom keeps the students engage in the classroom activities. Games can be used for introducing vocabulary, revision purposes, quizzes etc. Including stories in our lessons strengthens and develops all four skills in language learning. They are also good for vocabulary building and for modeling writing styles. Using arts and crafts in our teaching technique can help us to generate linking activities which we can practice language use. Drama and movement techniques makes the context of language more realistic. For younger learners, drama relates to mime and movement; however, for older children drama would relate to role plays or full acting.
