This unit goes over the form, usage and teaching ideas for the four present tenses. It also provides some examples of common errors students make while learning these tenses. Personally, I found the most useful section to be the one that highlights the differences between the present continuous and the present perfect continuous tenses. This is a distinction that I find a lot of students struggle with. While learning these tenses requires a certain amount of drilling and repetition, it's important to remember that the tenses are particularly confusing for students that don't get much \"natural\" practice with the English language - especially with conversation. That impedes on their ability to properly acquire and put into practice correct knowledge of the tenses. It's quite easy for students to get sucked into dry, textbook usage of the language, and the provided Activate Stage examples are useful in providing various ideas on how to engage students' interest in learning while providing them with the necessary practice.
