The unit on Teaching New Language includes peculiarities of teaching vocabulary, grammar and language functions of English. Language is compared to a tree here, where grammar stands for its trunk with the branches, whereas vocabulary and language functions - for its leaves. I would compare language to a building/house, where lexical part is the bricks of the house; grammatical part - the cement which combines the bricks (words) together; and phonetical - outer decorations like the wallpapers, for instance. Both of the descriptions prove that one does not appear so attractive without the others; hence they should be studies all together, not isolated.
The most disputable question here is what items of the vocabulary to choose for teaching. The unit provides us with the criteria according to which teachers can pick the vocabulary items for lessons. These are 1) appropriacy to the students; 2) appropriacy to the task; 3) frequency; 4) teachability.
