In this first unit, I first learned about the important qualities of a good teacher and a good learner. The qualities of a good teacher was the most important aspect for me in this unit, because it is an excellent way to start thinking about who I would like to be as a teacher (what qualities I hope to possess), and envisioning myself in the role of a teacher. The good learner portion is helpful in terms of teaching me what to strive toward in terms of motivating the students. It also helps with perhaps informing future teachers which kinds of students might be a good fit for them. Learning about the role of teachers was helpful, as it gave an idea of the different things we have a responsibility to provide to our students. We then learned about the different levels, which was straightforward, but it was helpful learning the European Framework, which I was not aware of previously. Learning about what motivates the students was also straight forward and mostly common sense. It was a good opening to teaching English overall.
