This is unit covered some of the parts of speech in the English language. Some of the parts of speech that were covered were nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, articles, conjunctions, pronouns, infinitives, gerunds, prepositions, and others. This unit lays the foundation for a prospective teacher to begin to understand the framework of the English language, which is of paramount importance when teaching it to foreign language speakers. As stated in the beginning of the unit, it is not necessary to be a teacher who knows every solitary thing about English grammar (if that is even possible), but it is important that teachers know enough about the rules and structure of English grammar to be able to help and assist students who might struggle with learning the language. Both the written component and the video contained examples of each part of speech, which helped me visualize its usage and put that idea into context. Putting words and grammatical rules into context is important for learners, and this was modeled throughout.
