This lesson explained the most common methodologies for teaching English as a foreign language and discussed the main methodology used in this course-- the Engage, Study, Activate approach-- in detail, including examples of activites for each phase and how to integrate the phases in an overall lesson plan. It also provided feedback on how and when to correct students.
I felt that the unit gave a very simple structure from which to devise lesson plans and appropriately elaborated on different ways to use it. I know that the suggestions for activities will be very helpful in devising future plans. Further, I appreciated the section on error correction as I have struggled in the past to know when and how to correct a student. It was helpful to know which times during a lesson were more appropriate--the study phase-- and when to correct one error over another--when it's frequent enough to become a habit for the whole class, when it's related to the point being studied and/or when the language it simply not understandable.
