In this unit we discussed problems that can arise in a classroom. We covered ways to handle these problems. We discussed ways to start your first lesson and build a rapport with the students. We learned different ways to have the class warm up to you. We discussed the different levels of students and different size classes. We learned that we should not let students use their native language to converse in the class even if they are trying to help another student understand. We should encourage all student s to speak English at all times in the classroom.This is one of the units I have been looking forward to studying and learning. I am looking forward to teaching, but I am nervous about putting together a lesson plan and putting into action. One of the things I was not aware of was the self critic that teachers do as part of lesson planning. That part of the unit intrigued me, and I will definitely be using that critic section actively. I want to be the best teacher to my students, and the only way I can do that is to note my deficiencies and better my abilities. This unit was very worthwhile, indeed.
