The first point I would make is surprise at the number of teaching methods that have been used, some of which I find somewhat ludicrous. Almost totally negating the presence of a teacher and/or using colored rods as teaching tools would seem to me to be counter-productive. Also, I cannot understand the point of changing students' names and avoiding traumatic subjects, UNLESS in the latter case one is working in a country which is particularly unstable. It discussed many forms of tests ranging from placement and progress tests to certificates for non-native speakers. I found this unit to be somewhat helpful, although it only barely covered how to evaluate. I think the strength of this unit lies in its practicality and real-world applications with the information regarding certifications for non-native speakers. This allows me, as a teacher, to be more of a resource outside of the typical classroom setting.
