What I have learned from this unit is mainly about the productive skills speaking and writing. Accuracy activities are producing correct language and fluency activities allows the students to experience and be creative with the language. These two facts are important to be able to teach the students. I have learned how to put accuracy and fluency into an ESA straight arrow lesson, and got a lot of ideas to do activities. One main important thing form this unit is, that it you have to encourage the students to speak.I found past tense easier to understand than present tense. This unit was easier for me to work through than the present tense unit. That could be because I am more familiar with the vocabulary of tenses now having worked through Unit 4. In any event, studying this unit made me realize how difficult English can be to learn. Currently I live in Thailand, and the Thai language does not change verbs based on tense. And this unit made me think how difficult this must be for students when they are first learning it.
