This unit deals with the various forms of past tenses (past simple, past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous). It is very similar in nature to unit 4, which dealt with the present tense. After reviewing these two very similar units, I think that I now have a good grasp of how to methodically and effectively teach tenses to my students. As I mentioned before, I've been speaking English naturally for many years that it's sometimes difficult for me to explain the subtler points of grammar (such as tenses) in a methodical and effective manner.This unit provides a variety of theories, methods and techniques that can be applied to your teaching situation. The unit provides you with a solid understanding of ESA and how each one should be applied to the learning experience of the student. I have learned that there is a myriad of tools at my disposal and I am only limited by my creativity. I like how it cautions when to use an application and when it's not a good idea. This unit has provided me with a wealth of knowledge and techniques that I will use when I secure my first and future learners.
