We learn about teaching language, specifically about teaching vocabulary, grammatical structures, and language functions in Unit 7.
In each category they give example techniques we can use to teach and also show typical lesson plans.
Straight arrow ESA lessons are commonly used for teaching grammar or vocabulary, and boomerang or patchwork ESA lessons are common style for teaching language functions.
It is helpful to see many example lesson plans so I get ideas of how to build a lesson.It has been awhile since I had to label parts of a sentence. This was a nice review for me. In fact, I might need to print this unit out as a refresher to use in the future.
I found it informative, well written, gave plenty of examples, and even provided some irregulars of which we need to be aware. I remember how important it was in my Spanish class to learn, not only the rules of the language, but exceptions to those rules. However, it is easy to forget with your own native language.
