This unit introduced two videos of the same teacher giving a lesson in two completely different ways. It seemed as if the first video was showing what a teacher should not do. The teacher should not tell the students that it is very easy because it is not too easy for them because they are still learning. They may feel discouraged if they are having difficulty understanding. It shows how a smile and the change in attitude, and voice drastically affect the students interaction. It is clear that students become more encouraged when praised for their participation. The teacher should at all times be supportive of the students. It was very clear that getting to know the students names helps the teacher build rapport. The students felt interested and not intimidated, and this was clear in the second video. The attitude of the teacher in the first video did nothing to help make the lesson a success. The students were afraid to participate and that was very clear. The teachers attitude is key to determine the atmosphere of the class.
