It's good to read about the strengths and weaknesses of all three forms of course materials. It seems to me that in an ideal world you would be able to use authentic and created materials all the time. Realistically however, course books can help you with the planning and overall structure of your syllabus. I think the textbook can be a good starting point when preparing a new lesson, in which you can create something catered to your class, or fall back upon if need arises.It was helpful to recognize the different types of Beginner learners. And I really enjoyed the material on Business English since I have had some experience teaching Business English. I was able to identify with a lot of the points mentioned regarding Business English. Lastly, I found it helpful to know the differences between a monolingual and a multilingual class. I have only dealt with a monolingual class so understanding the advantages and disadvantages was also useful.
