This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 18 covered modals, phrasal verbs and passive voices. The modal auxiliary verbs are can, could, may, might, shall, should, will, etc., and there are basic rules for when you should use the right modal. While working through this unit I realized again that there is a difference between just speaking English and teaching English. Even though I know exactly which modal I have to use while speaking, I must memorize the different uses to be able to teach them to my students. This unit covered lesson planning. I learned lesson plans should be used because they can serve as a blueprint for each class. The lesson plans are a way of keeping track of what students should know by the end of a class and a record of what was done during the class along with the materials that were required to carry out each activity. I also learned the basic principles of lesson planning such keeping a lesson simple and checking that the lesson has a balance of skills.
