I have learned that a teacher has to be a multi-tasker. As a manager or controller he/she is also an organiser and facilitator. Therefor a teacher has to provide the facilities required for a conducive learning environment, and to be able to control activities and lesson progression.
As an assessor the teacher has to evaluate the progress of the class and individuals. This is achieved by observing and monitoring and by asking questions and or written tests.
As a model, he/she has to participate in certain activities and give examples of pronunciation etc. In this case prompting may be necessary.
As a former qualified Competency Assurance Assessor, (Oil & Gas industry), I learned that it is important to give a learner every opportunity to showcase the knowledge and understanding of their subject.
In the Oil & Gas industry there is a move away from supervisors and shop floor managers and having Team Leaders in order that the is a less sit-back attitude of management and a more participation in operations. I move which I approve of.
