This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This subject is of particular interest to me as an educator. The areas covered helped in analysing my established classroom relationships with my students. One criticism is the questioning and the form in which the questions are asked. I find that there are too many questions asking what I as a student don't know rather than what I do know. Questions such as those using the words 'least likely, what is not and what probably'. I find questions such as this somewhat misleading and more likely to elicit a wrong answer. This unit examines the importance of the productive skills, writing and speaking, in the classroom. Something very important that I learned in this unit is the difference between fluency and accuracy activities. I now understand the importance of providing both types of activities for the students during lessons in order to ensure that they continue to improve on their grammatical skills while simultaneously encouraging them to be creative with English and work on being able to speak and just get their point across.
