I learned about the four basic skills of language in this unit. Receptive skills cover reading and listening, while productive skills are speaking and writing. There are reasons and motives for reading and listening and they are divided into two categories which is for a purpose and for entertainment. There are problems with reading and listening, but the more language a student is exposed to, the more they will learn. The unit provided ways of approaching language difficulty. These include pre-teaching vocabulary, a careful selection of texts, topics, creating interest, and tasks.in this unit i was able to learn the different stages of Engage - Study - Activate and I find I am very comfortable with it. I enjoyed some of the games discussed and I plan to use many of them when I begin teacher students. I also learned how important criticizing can be and to make sure you're doing it correctly, and at the correct time. Failure to do this can result in a students drain in confidence and can effect the rest of his or her class experience. i also learned there is a difference between mistakes and errors. I look forward to utilizing these techniques in the future.
