In this unit I've learned that it is crucial for the teacher to be present, which means to know each student individually (as a student and as a person) and how the classroom spirit it. To understand the dynamic of the class and how can him/herself be beneficial and remarkable in their students learning process.
It is important to be a leader but not a ruler. As a teacher needs to be attentive to the way he/she speaks thru body/verbal language while explaining or teaching a topic to the students. How a teacher plans a lesson really matters when it comes in to students understanding it.This unit focuses on how to teach receptive skills. It explains the two motivations for reading and listening which are for a purpose and for entertainment. It gives an overview of the skills needed when listening or reading these include predictive skills, scanning, skimming, concentration and deduction. It teaches how to try avoid problems students may have such as pre-teaching some vocabulary and carefully selecting texts. I learnt you can improve your lesson by creating interest in what the students will do, as well as, choosing tasks and topics that are applicable to the students.
