This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
One thing I learned from this unit was learning to ask the question of \"what would you like to know about...\" This will be helpful to find student's interests and to tailor the lessons to what would make them excited. I also liked the concept of 'pre-teaching'. I do this unknowingly, but now that I am aware of this idea of 'pre-teaching', I will be sure to implement this more often. In my online piano lesson videos, I sometimes say 'I just want you to be aware of this, you don't have to learn this right away, but I want you to be aware.' Little did I know I have been pre-teaching my students!
The last thing I learned from this unit was utilizing the 'activate' stage of a lesson to segue into a new learning block. For example, if my students are role playing where they want to go for dinner but are limited in vocabulary, I can take that 'need' to learn more words to transition from 'activate' to 'study'. That way students will feel motivated to 'study' because this will enable them to know of more places they could go for dinner.
