This is a very helpful and educational unit. It gives the basic foundation of what English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers will be expected to teach; depending on the learning level of their students, of course. The overall structure of the unit is very good. It shows potential ESL teachers how much they take for granted when it comes to using English in verbal and written forms. Unless you are already an English or Language Arts teacher, this unit introduces and highlights some of the intricacies and irregularities of English grammar.
Furthermore; the underlying tone of the unit, in my opinion, is being a Native Speaker does not equate to being able to teach. The unit states that it is giving basics when it comes to parts of speech. It will be the duty of the potential teacher to take what this unit has to offer and build upon the information. By using this unit as a foundation and being a diligent worker, ESL teachers will be prepared to teach the content regardless of the learning level of their potential students.
