In this unit I learned how to manage and control a classroom environment. One thing which stuck out for me was the methodology of \"teacher talk time\" (TTT) and \"student talk time\" (STT) which I had never thought about in such a formal way in my ESL teaching experience. Through studying this unit it has become clear that in order to effectively teach language the amount of time spent talking by the teacher should be minimal, whilst the amount of time spent more casually correcting and encouraging students should be increased.I feel this unit is very important for an inexperienced teacher, to give some structure as to how to go about planning a lesson and keeping track. Several guidelines and basic principles gives the teacher the freedom to make up their own way of planning and structuring their teaching experience, although this comes naturally with experience, I assume?
The lesson plan template is well structured and I as an inexperienced teacher would definitely use this template as basis until I am comfortable with my own method of preparation.
