This chapter brought me back into the idea of teaching in the classroom. I like the fact that it gives us some practical advice on how to choose course materials and, I like how it explains the specific reasons why we might use one type of course material over the other. After reading through, I could clearly understand the benefit of integrating all the different methods and approaches into a lesson. In fact, I think that the ESA teaching style helps to make both lesson planning and instructional materials easier. By structuring the lesson in an ESA style, it forces the teacher to stay creative and to incorporate more than one type of material into the lesson. I doubt that you would be able to teach with the ESA style if all you have to work with is a text book. I also liked the questions on the quiz above because it got me thinking a lot about how important it is to make sure that the activity and the supporting materials for any activity are carefully selected to compliment the topic being discussed and the objective of the lesson.
