This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit covered the different methodologies and approaches to teaching English. While there are many different approaches and there is no one perfect way of teaching English, the ESA approach (Engage, Study, Activate) is very popular and effective because students are motivated and given plenty of time to speak the language as well as learn its theory during the \"study\" part of it. Teachers begin by capturing the students' interest, thus engaging them in a certain topic (Engage Phase), then they have students learn about the newly introduced vocabulary and grammar by doing worksheets or other activities (Study Phase), and finally teachers allow their students to use the newly acquired knowledge in real situations, be it through role-playing or other practical situations (Activate Phase). While the order of these phases must not be fixed (they can be in the order of a \"boomerang,\" thus EASA, or as a random patchwork, for example ESAEASA), the ESA class must always begin with an \"Engage\" phase and end with an \"Activate\" phase.
