In Unit 6, Video Lessons, two different teaching styles were portrayed through video. The first video was painful to watch, as the teacher came off as abrasive and awkward. He demanded answers from his students before fully teaching them the content. He used complex language and talked too fast which only furthered the students confusion. He turned his back to his students multiple times to aggressively write repetitive phrases on the white board. He did not know his students names. In the second video, the teacher walked in with a lighter attitude, wrote his name on the board, and proceeded to ask the students their names. In doing so, he began to build good rapport, which was only furthered by his chuckling and smiling. He used gestures to emphasize his instructions, even though he was speaking slowly and clearly to begin with. He also had the students work in pairs, and used a game to lighten the mood. When writing on the board, the teacher continued to talk to his students, as well as turn around and attempt to maintain eye contact.
