This unit gave two examples of a lesson with the same learning objective; one good lesson and one bad lesson. It was good to see the stark differences between the good lesson and the bad lesson. Although the bad example is taken to the extreme, there were some points that I had not considered particularly bad until now. For example, stating that a particular point is easy. I thought stating something is easy is a good prompt for a student not to over think and give the simplest answer. Now I can see it can have the opposite effect, making a student feel inadequate for not knowing an apparently easy answer, and making them reluctant to participate for fear of being wrong. It was also nice to see that the good lesson did not go exactly as planned when drawing the imaginary animals, but the teacher did not let that stop the lesson flow, and praised the students regardless. I think this is a useful example for teaching a grammar lesson using one group of vocabulary students are familiar with, allowing most of the focus to be on the grammar.
