This Unit was about classroom management, that is how to organize seats in the classroom, how to build and maintain rapport with the students, how to enable class discipline etc.
What i’ve learn in particular is that one of the most effective ways of seats arrangement is a horseshoe as it allows for a certain level of intimacy, goof for the pair work and creates the atmosphere conducive to learning. Although one must understand that it’s not effective with the bigger classes.
Another important thing to contemplate on was the need for the eye contact, and in which cases it’s excessive. Once again it was stated that the students talking time should be as prolonged as possible and students learn faster when they correct each other. So the TTT should be boiled down to providing necessary exposure to the language, giving instructions but not dominating the students. Important here, while giving instructions, is to use the level of language that is below the one being taught.
To sum up, keep it simple and respect your students.
