This unit was another good source of class structure, it was nice to refresh myself with more ESA structure ideas. Keeping ESA structure in mind is absolutely essential. This unit served to reinforce HOW students learn and things to keep in mind when structuring lessons. I definitely feel that limiting vocabulary to what students will actually need to know is important, cutting out origins and any relations to other words helps the students' minds from becoming overwhelmed.Teaching conditionals and reported speech is very tricky. The time-shifting aspect of reported speech is especially confusing, particularly for new learners. I did not realize that there were so many forms of conditionals, from the very certain to the purely speculative. These are uses that seem natural to a native speaker, but which can trip up a student. Fortunately, there are many fun ways to teach each of these aspects of advanced speech, from gap fills to role-playing.
