This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I can see why the future tense is said to be one of the most complex areas. Unlike the present and past tense that only have four different forms, the future tense has seven. The first forms similar to the past and present forms seem pretty simple. However, in dealing with the present tense used with the future tense application it gets a bit tricky. I think that just as it is a complex area to learn it will also prove to be challenging to teach. The tip to teach the future simple and 'be going to' structures together to highlight their key differences will be something that I keep in mind as I enter the classroom. As well as, possibly finding other structures to teach together, such as the two present tenses used with the future tense application taught along with a refresher on the present simple and present continuous forms used in the present tenses. I think the key would also be to ensure to really get the students engaged in the lesson to ensure that they are really focused so that they can more easily pick up in this complex area.
