My refection on Unit 6: This was the most interesting and informative Unit in this course. Many good internet insights and links are provided here. The two that I learned the most from were: http://www.teachingenglish.org.uk/teaching-adults/resources/english-business and www.cyborlink.com
The British Council website has all sorts of teachers from all sorts of countries sharing their personal insights into TEFL. So, this is a very valuable website for teachers. The cyborlink website deals with cultural understanding and how it applies to both students and teachers in the classroom. This was one of the most difficult units so far. It is very tricky for a native speaker of English, to catch the proper tenses for complex sentences, so I can only imagine what trying time tenses will be for my students. Looking for the cues and repetition will be two tools that I will use to help my students look for the proper tense in English. Grammar and structure do help in understanding the make up of an English sentence, but practice and repetition seem to be equally important. These units are certainly teaching me the pitfalls of English, and ways to recover or avoid them.
