This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This was a great unit with tons of informations about different teaching methods, who knew there were that many? I like the fact that the ESA model is all I need to focus on as I start and will explore different formats such as the boomrang or the patchwork lessons as I become more comfortable. I feel good knowing that other successful methods are already integrated into the ESA model, such as the task-based learning, the lexical approach when doing vocabulary building games for example, the audio-lingualism for its drilling... I love the fact that learning is done mostly through activities and games, with a strong focus on student participation. I wish this is how kids would be taught in our schools instead of the teacher focused learning style that is so prevalent. This unit gave me a long list of material to research online for my own databank, such as videos of games I am not familiar with, find crossword puzzles and word searches. Also, finding which activity books I would like to purchase using your suggested list of teaching material.
